Potty Training Rewards Chart

Potty training. We all had to go through it at one point in our lives! And let’s be real— you don’t know a grown person who still wears diapers because they couldn’t figure out how to be potty trained, right?

So I’m here to tell you that scrubbing pee out of the carpet and throwing away poopy underwear WILL come to an end. (And surprisingly, you’ll probably miss it one day).

But in the meantime, this is hard work you’re doing right now mama!

Helping your little one get to the potty on time and EVERY time is a difficult task you’re up against. I know! I’ve been there with multiple kids.

So far, I personally have only had to potty train girls. I am a bit nervous about my upcoming experience with a boy since I hear they are a tad harder.

I’m excited to use this post on potty training boys to help me navigate my son’s potty training. If you have a boy, I highly recommend the read!

If you are potty training before age 2, props to you! It can be easier in some ways and harder in others. Head over to this article on potty training before 2 for some good tips and tricks.

No matter when you do it, potty training can be tricky.

But who said that potty training HAD to be frustrating and tiring? What if I told you it could be fun, rewarding, and a bonding experience for you and your child?

Let’s dive into potty training reward charts and the research showing the benefits of them.

Rewarding While Potty Training

Rewards help kids feel motivated to use the potty more often and help them create the habit of doing so.

Not only does it teach them the habit, but it helps you to track the success of your child and for them to physically see it.

Rewards should be simple, creative, and play to your child’s specific personality.

Rewards for potty training or teaching our children anything for that matter can be a great form of positive reinforcement.

Whether it’s a small prize or a bigger reward, kids thrive when they receive praise and recognition for doing something good.

Some of our most effective rewards and most effective hacks have been:

-Singing Daniel’s potty-time Song together while they go on the potty.

-A small toy from the dollar store

-A helium balloon

-Fruit Snack

-Bubbles

-stickers of their favorite daniel tiger characters

Potty Training Rewards Chart

Before giving your child the chart, start out by setting some potty training goals with your son or daughter. This will help them understand the expectations and what they are working for.

Then, show them the chart and explain to them how they earn stickers.

Each sticker could be for peeing in the potty, pooping in the potty, or simply just for accident-free days.

We have created 2 different designs of free printable potty-training charts.

1. Princess Potty Training Chart

If you have a little girl who loves princesses, this princess potty chart is perfect for you!

Immediate rewards are hard for kids to gain the momentum and motivation to build good habits. So instead, try letting the stickers be the main reward.

At the end of each row, you can give your daughter a special princess-themed piece of candy as an extra incentive.

A great incentive for this theme is to have a princess costume ready to go for the end of the chart! Wrap it up and give it to them once the chart is complete!

Or, take a trip to the Disney Store to have your daughter choose which costume she would like.

Don’t forget the “big-kid underwear” to get her excited. Make sure it has her favorite princesses on it!

2. Construction Site Potty Training Chart

Little Boys (sometimes girls too) will love going back to the fridge each time they go potty to see their construction truck!

Make it a fun bonding experience by taking them to see a real construction site at the end of their potty training chart.

At the end of each row of stickers, let them pick out a special treat– maybe even construction-themed!

Have some star stickers handy for your child to place on the star at the end of the chart.

If you have set backs on this journey, don’t worry. That’s normal. Just keep a positive attitude about it and your child will catch on to that and feel motivated to keep trying.

At the end of the sticker chart, head to the toy store and let them pick out their very own new construction truck! A new toy always brightens a child’s day.

Remember to get big-boy undies with construction trucks on them!

Potty Training Certificates

Kids love to see that they have accomplished a task! And giving them something tangible to show it is even better.

Find the corresponding certificate of congratulations that matches your sticker chart theme and write your child’s name on the line.

Viola! His or her own personal certificate to hang on the fridge and show off to everyone who comes into your house!

Accessing Your Printable

To gain access to your free printable charts, simply click below. That’s it! No strings attached.

Feel free to print out the potty chart at your local print shop. Laminate it and hang it on the fridge or in the bathroom for your little one.

Little hands can have a hard time handling small stickers. So you can also print it larger and hang it on a poster.
