110 Positive Affirmations For Kids (With Printable Cards)

If you’re parenting a child who is struggling with self-confidence, these positive affirmations for kids are a great place to start.

Morning Affirmations For Kids

I have two children.

They are (of course) SO different.

My older daughter has boatloads of confidence.

Sometimes I wish she had a little less!

My younger daughter, on the other hand, does not have nearly as much confidence as she should.

She’s an AMAZING kid and I tell her that all the time.

But one slip of the tongue when I’m angry?

One “what’s wrong with you?” when she just won’t leave her sister alone is all it takes to undo all of that positive talk.

That’s literally all it takes with her.

It’s so frustrating for me as her mom.

That’s why I decided to create some positive affirmations directed toward kids who might struggle the same way that my daughter does.

This way, when she’s feeling frustrated, angry, unworthy, unloved, WHATEVER, she can find her affirmation cards and read them to herself.

Sometimes, even for kids, developing a positive mindset doesn’t come naturally.

It’s something that needs to be worked on.

My self-esteem questions for girls can also be used to work on boosting your daughter’s self-esteem.

I hope these affirmations help your children, too.

Why Affirmations Are Important For Kids

It is important that kids hear (over and over again) how special and how loved they are.

Kids are going to believe what you say about them.

But it can also be helpful for kids to say these positive affirmations TO THEMSELVES.

How many times have you heard your child repeat something that you say all the time to their sibling?

It happens in my household a lot.

(And sometimes makes me cringe because I need to watch what I say.)

My point is, what we say to our kid becomes their inner dialogue.

“The way we talk to our children becomes their inner dialogue.” ~ Peggy O’Mara

Think about how many times you, as an adult, criticize yourself.

Moms could benefit from these positive thoughts, too!

Positive affirmations can help a child to gain confidence, develop a growth mindset and believe in themselves.

Positive affirmations can also help your child through difficult situations, such as bullying or a friend being unkind.

How To Use Positive Affirmations With Kids

There are so many ways that you can incorporate positive affirmations into your child’s daily life.

Try to work daily affirmations into your routine!

Here are some ideas.

  • Place a note of affirmation in your child’s lunch box.
  • Hide sticky notes with written positive affirmations around your child’s room. My daughters really love this one.
  • Repeat the affirmations, saying them three times each, each time with more confidence.
  • Repeat the affirmation after you. (Again, you can frame it as BOTH of you practicing and building your self-confidence!)
  • Make part of your routine. Find a time of the day where you can tell your child some affirmations. For us, this works at bedtime best, because that’s when my kids are most likely to open up and tell me any issues that they are having. Therefore, it’s a great time of the day for me to remind them how amazing they are. Make sure you connect physically at the same time!
  • Make it a habit to share affirmations with each other. (Siblings can tell each other “I love that you are strong”, “I love that you are brave”, etc).
  • Print off some positive affirmation cards that your child can turn to when she needs to give herself a pep talk, but doesn’t have the words to do it on her own.
  • Write affirmations on the mirror so that whenever your child looks at the mirror, they will read them and look at themselves in the mirror at the same time.
